i have 3 .step files from solidworks. they go into bobcad v21 nicely, and save well as .dwg or .dxf files. but any attempt to open them with autocad 2000 is fruitless, the .dwg file generates an "incompatable version" message of some sort, the .dxf file seems to read over with no errors, but when you look, there is nothing there. i am doing this as i am more competent in autocad and want to isolate peripheries for 2 1/2d milling. or can i explode this in bobcad? my attempts so far seem to break the solid into surfaces, but i would like to break surfaces into to individual line entities. thanks. |

| You need to use the Extract Edges function to get wire frame that is useful. Select your Surfaces/Solid and click on Solids -> Extract Edges. A dialog will appear asking what you want to extract, choose the All Edges Arcs and Lines option and click OK. Now you can either delete the original surfaces or blank them out, but you will find that you have wire frame that should export to AutoCAD just fine. Regards |
