Newbie- bob cad training

has anybody taken the 3 day bob cad training class ,and was it worth the time and money.

My wife and I went. Yes, it's very expensive, but informative. The problem we found was the class consisted of all levels of knowledge. We were newbies and there were people who had been running the machines for a number of years. Also we were just interested in BobArt. If you are using older versions of BobCad, this one is totally different and even the knowledgeable had problems. Pricing is negotiable, do your best deal, especially if more than 1 person. We stayed at the HJ's which is next door. It was clean, but in need of updating and a little repair, but we only paid $59/night. The instructor was very knowledgeable and helped write the program, but was very fast, especially for newbies. On the last day he did walk us thru what we were interested in. Jim

Thanks for the info. Sounds like they need to offer differnt classes from basic to expert.

That's why they do one on one web training. This way you don't have to leave the shop and the training is just for what you need.

Also you can get a video of the training session for you to use in the future.

This I feel it the best level of training BobCAD offers for new guys.

After you have 40 + hours on the system and have done some one on one web training, then the seminars can be very useful.

I went, and found it quite useful. I am very knowledgeable in other CAD systems, but was stumbling trying to learn BobCAD on my own. I actually paid more for the training than I did for the software, but in the end, I find the combo to be a great buy (v23 for me, I hear v22 was aweful). There were newbies in my class, as well as someone who has come 10+ times (likes spending money, I guess!). Also, the instructor runs a free website here: http://www.cadcamtrainer.com/ There are some useful things on his site, and he is updating it to v23 videos. He is very helpful.

I attended the training a few weeks ago and found it worth the time and money. I have been using cad-cam systems for a few years and last year bought the rights to distrubute V14 on the embedded controllers on my machines. Recently I have begun selling V23 as an upgrade or stand alone product and I wanted to get the training needed to really use this properly and be able to answer questions. I now recommend (and no I don't sell it!) this course to anyone with more than a passing interest in the software.

If you are completely new to cad-cam-cnc I recommend getting the program and really trying to work through designing basic parts on your own and with the included tech support before taking the live class.

Now if you go posting the username and passwords in other forums it would require me to go changing them.

These are hidden in the cadcam sight until the user signs up to the forum.

Well, I took that class with Sorin, and he passed out that info freely, and said we could pass it on. Sorry if you take personal offense.

I think the point would be that to access the info, one should "register" with sorins websight. Seems a reasonable request. TJones "IS" the administrator for that web site.

It's just a courtesy/respect thing for "Sorin". True he is not charging for the information, but it has been placed in an area where you need to register to access and participate.
