i have been sent an IGES file and im trying to get dimensions of radius's off the drawing, im totally lost as im new to 3d, i will attach the file im trying to dimension and hopefully one of you kind people will be able to help me out, very many thanks in advance! |

| Ok so you open the file: ![]() Being an IGES file you have un stitched surfaces that make up this part. If you want to dimension a solid well, that doesn't really work all that well. What you need to do is get wire frame from the surfaces. You do you editing under the utilities menu, you find extract edges there. So you'll pick one of the faces and extract the wire frame. I would put the wire frame on a different layer or color to make it easy to separate from the model. But anyway, once you have this wire frame you can measure it using your RT mouse and > measure You could use the dimension options but most likely what you are try to find the size of it not flat in the xy plane. ![]() If you have splines like you do in this file you will need to explode the wire frame to break it down to lines and arcs. |
