Is there such a thing? By "block nesting" I mean that BobNest will recognize an imported part almost like a bitmap, so that a triangle would nested like a rectangle. In other words, if my part is a right triangle that is 6" wide x 6" long, BobNest would nest them the same way as if they were 6"x6" squares. Please let me know if that doesn't make sense... |

| It will only stagger the parts if you allow for a rotation. The system actually works on a grid when No Rotation is permitted. The only time you should see a stagger is if you have additional shapes that will fit into an area between your primary shape. Regards |

| I tried the nesting with no rotation, and pretty consistently I run into a problem where BobNest still tries to stagger the parts (see images 1 and 2). The reason it is important to block nest in our situation is because these parts are being cut out of perforated (diamond-shaped) aluminum, and I'm cutting along the geometry of the material in order to get smooth edges. The third image is what I want... Everything lines up in the x- and y-directions. The third image is a screen shot of the Torchmate CAD, but I'd like to use BobNest because it's a stronger program. ![]() ![]() |
