Equidistant offset unexpected Z-feeds

While using equidistant offset to 3-d profile parts G-code is inserted during the post (HAASTM.mlpst) that causes the z-axis to occaisionally plunge (as if a spot drill was called for) in random areas which produces random "pock" marks about 0.050 to 0.10" deep. I cannot see these Z motions on the toolpaths but last night I loaded a program into graphics mode on the HAAS TM1 and saw multiple "X's" which represent drill holes in the similator. Obviously these were not supposed to be present as the part has no holes drawn in it. This does not happen if I use z-level rough/finish, just with equisistant offset machining.

Has anyone else had this happen? I did not report the problem to Bcad tech yet in case it is fixed in the greatly anticipated patch.

Robin

when using equidistant offset to 3-d profile it not uncommon for any software to go back and hit a spot if materail is left there.

The One is on a distinguished road

Robin,

Send the file to support@bobcadsupport.com. Make the subject Forum Posting ATTN: Chris Rinderle. They will get it over to me. I want to see if it is the surface, a tesselation issue or something else.

It may be one of the issues that is being handled, but I won't know for sure unless I see what is causing it.

Regards

I think what he is saying is that it removes more material in those particular spots than what needs to be, leaving gouges or maybe I'm misreading it.

I have witnessed this on one part I did using equidistant offset. The part finish/tolerance was not critical so it didn't bother me.

Thanks for the replies.
It punches deep "pot hole" at random areas..deep enough to more than ruin the part. I will send a copy of the .cad and the .nc file to bcad support to see if it is an unseen abberation in the drawing vs. the post.

Bump of unresolved issues

Chris R. You requested that I e-mail an example of the .cad and .nc files that are producing the seemingly and unintended z-plunges during eqid. offset routines so you could determine the source of the problem. I have done that about a week ago and received no response. I sent another e-mail asking to at least acknowledge that you received the message so I would know if I needed to re-send it. Still no response. As I mentioned in the e-mail I am not expecting an immediate resolution to the malfunction, just a reply that the e-mail was successfully sent and received. I am posting this here as last resort because at least I amy find out if you received my files.
