try using the solids primative parts and a boolean subtract.
What is the best way to slice a sphere? (or, what are some of the ways to slice a sphere?)
What I want is a 6" radius part that is 4" thick. Essentially, it will look like a saucer plate that is upside down.
I thought the easiest way would be to draw a sphere, the slice and remove the largest portion. I haven't figured out how to do that yet.
Drawing the radius and using revolve is one method, but I'm trying to learn different ways.
BTW, I'm using V22 with Windows Vista.
TIA.

TJones, please explain primitive parts. I know about the boolean subtract, but I don't know how to seperate the sphere.
Thanks for your help.

Rob,
Here is the way that I would do it. Go to the solids, primitives menu and select the sphere. put in the data for your sphere. Then go back to the solids, primitives menu and select the cube. Put in the data for a cube that will cover all the area that you want to take away from your sphere. Select the sphere and then select the cube and do the Boleean difference.

Thanks Ernie!
I was trying to use a plane.

Thats the way. The primatives tools are very easy to use.
