    Help! Created 3-axis pocket code

Per the attached Bobcad file, I'm trying to use the 3-axis Slice Planar CAM feature to pocket out this item which includes fillets and a center post. (FYI this is pretty close to the example Bobcad gives).

The problem is that it seems to only be milling the shape of the pocket - i.e. it's not creating 0.1" passes to remove the material in the pocket, it's just taking it all at once! What am I missing?

Please note: JWS First Part.pdf is actually a .bbcd file. If you download it, please rename the extension!

    Thanks!

You just forgot to specify a depth per pass. To do this:

    Edit the Feature.
In the Parameters page, click on the Step Down button. This will make the Step Dopwn input field visible.
Input the amount you wish to take per pass, then click ok.
    Then re-Compute the toolpath.

    Regards

The One - thanks! That makes sense.

The solution was to right click on "Slice Planar", choose Parameters, and in the "depth options" box, choose "step down" and then I entered 0.1 inches

    Thanks again.

If you have Level 3 Mill I suggest using the Water Line Roughing and Finishing or the Pocketing Function.

These will remove material faster and give a better finish.

Toby - I don't have that feature because my bobcad salesman has informed me that they are no longer selling it!

That depends on when you purchased it. Mine is still active. If you purchased after 10/23/07 you won't have these Features. This also depends on which Level you purchased as well.

    Cheers!!!!
