importing large scan into v21

I have had a D size drawing scanned at a local print shop, it is currently a .tif file. I am unable to open it with either bobart or proX. I tried saving the tif as a jpg and also as a bmp, but bobcad still does not open it. I assume it is because the the large size (quantity of data) of the image. Doea anyone have any suggestions, or workarounds?
thanks
-jon

Jon BCC will not open those types of files. Only these files at the bottom of the attached picture.

Yes it does, but they are Plug-Ins that have to be Purchased at an additional cost.

Also after you Import the file into BobArt or BobArt ProX it has to be Vectorized. The best Pictures to Vectorize are Black and White. Any other colors like yellows, grays, greens etc. won't Vectorize well enough to get a crisp clean picture for CAD Geometry. In which case you will have to Manually Clean it up in the CAD Screen.

If you PM Hay Tay he uses a nice software that works very well. I believe it is V-Carve or Coral Draw.

He might be having a Graphics RAM, RAM, or Processor problems. If he doesn't have enough the File won't load. The only work around for this is more RAM for both Graphics and Multi-Tasking. If it is a Processor issue a better processor will be needed.

Sorry when reading the original post I was a bit tired.

OK his thread title was just ver 21. I totally agree that it is probably a memory issue. On my old machine with less memory available BobArt did strange non-operations for me.

I have had Issues with a Desk Top PC that had 1.5GB RAM, 256MB Graphics RAM, and Dual Hyper Threaded 3.2GHz Processors over the Lap Top 1GB RAM, 32MB Graphics RAM, and a single Pentium 4 >2.0GHz Processor. They both had issues with specific files. Other times the Lap Top was better than the Desk Top and vs. Versa. Software can be strange at times.

I figure it was the O/S rather than the PC's themselves.

more large scan

I should have clarified, that I tried using both bobart and bobart pro x for the import.
I am using an intel 2.8Ghz processor and 1 gig of ram.

I don't recall the website, but I managed to find a site that will do your first conversion to dxf for you for free.

This thing was amazing. all of the horizontal lines were 0 degrees, there were differerent colors for different features, etc etc.
I couldn't have asked for a nicer job.

Did they use AutoCAD for your file?
