hello. i am new to bobcad and machining in general. plz help. this is probably going to be very vague, so bare with me. i uploaded a pic in bobart, then sent the contours to bobcad to engrave it. i then had bobcad created the nc for me. i assumed it would travel around the picture when i machine it, but it would rapid from one point to another at random with the tool in the part breaking the tool. i tried to edit the code with what knowledge i have, i got an alarm along the lines of can not interrupt the tool path (cant remember exactly). well i guess my question is is there a way to have bobcad when it rapids to move the tool out of the part? hope this makes sense, thanks! fanuc 6m on a excel. |

Make sure you only have the entities you want selected before CAMMING. If you have a point or a line segment selected the software will see that and write the G-Code regardless. In other words an entity like a lead in plunge cut.

| Also: Do not use the Generate NC command. It does not obey all of the logic necessary to generate code properly. You can also do this: Select the Geometry. Click on Change => Reorganize => Cleanup and Optimize. Then set your u..d.. Next click Machine Auto(your geometry should still be selected before clicking on this). That should help a little. In BobCad you sometimes have to select one outline at a time, pay attention to the arrows, and generate the code in sections. If the outlines are not complete you may have to do some touch up to close some paths and make the cutting go where you like. I'm vague here because I'm being general about it. Normally I use the profile function to set up the different sections and then sent them to post. GeneK |
