Can you supply the text before you broke it down to lines and arcs ?
That's where something went wrong.
If not,a way around it is to pick each entity one at a time, single picking,,in other words,no window picking
I have this small aluminum sign job and can't get it to work with rest milling V28
Keeps crashing or takes forever to compute where I have to cancel which then crashes the program.
I tried using simple 2axis pocketing with 2 pocket routine.
Depth would be .100" .
I give up. What am I doing wrong.
This needs to be under 2 hour job

Hi Rob
Well, I didn`t have any trouble using a simple 2 axis pocket on your .DXF file, to try and replicate your issue I also did a "box selection" of all the text at once. I have just used a simple pocket strategy without any finish profile as an example, feel free to alter as you require
I set the spindle speed to 10,000rpm @ 800mm/m feed rate (About 31.5 ipm) with a 1/16" 2 flute cutter programmed in with the DOC set to 4 passes @ 0.635mm (About 0.025"), ramp in lead set at 200mm/m (About 7.0 ipm).
These are just a guess as I have no idea what your machine is capable of rpm wise but that should work OK.
Anyway, here are a couple of images of the toolpath and the simulated program, it worked fine and took abot 2 seconds to compute the toolpath, with the numbers I put if the Setup Sheet estimated time is 39 minutes so should be some $$$ in it for you
Also attached on a Zip file is the actual program that I created from your .DXF file, hope it works for you
Regards
Rob
Oh man,,am I going to have to make a video,,,lol
I should of saved the sample file I did yesterday,,ugh,,,I will try to gve yu a good file by tomorrow,,,btw, yes I was doing it as an emboss
"I guess bobcad cant handle little letters."
to be fair,this ain't a BoB issue,,,it's a crappy file you got,,,,do entity summary,,,
Still details for you to do,but I believe this will get you going
advanced rough with .500 em then 3 rest rough routines .250,.125,.0625
That is embossed,,from here you need to pocket the inside of letters
and you might change the machining tolerance back,I raised it so it would compute faster for me
PM me with number or e-mail to get file,,,to large to upload here
here you can see the simulation better
Since I can't load the file here, here is a screen shot of the tool paths for those that are interested
got the file to load
Well that works. I guess my problem was using pocketing to try to do this. Being a newbie, I don't have advanced rough. Live and learn
Thank you. Good Job.
and the other thing is I don't have the Pro version V28 with advanced rough.
Rob
Then skin the cat this way
if it was me,I would space the letters so they are no closer than .126 from each other at the closest point.Hence that is why I picked a .120 EM for your file as it is.
