Hi, I'm trying to generate a code for a jetengine part. I had the part drawn up in a 3d program and exported as a STEP-file. Afterwards I imported it into BobCAD. I have a few questions on how to proceed. I know all the basics for the 2-1/2D machining, but never tried 3D. When I import the part I can't get the "zero-point" to the lower-center of the part. Normally you can press "P" but I can't select the lower center where the zero needs to go to. When I generate a toolpath, the path folows the curve of the part a a fixed distance (radius of the ballnose), however the mill needs to come down slowly cutting it's way towards the part.. any suggestions? regards, Adryan |

What Version of BCC are you using, V19, V20, or V21? Moving the Model. Select the Solid Model and Extract Line and Arcs. Then create a point at the center circle. Create a point x0 y0 z0 Select everything except the two points Change Menu>Translate>Snap>No Copies>OK Select the center point of your circle then the one at X0 Y0 Z0 The Model will origin at that point. Also Visit the BCC Webite and download the PDF Manual if your using V21. Visit these sites for help too http://cadcamtrainer.com/forums/index.php http://216.117.147.20/bobcadsupport/forums/ http://www.bobcad.com/home.html Cheers

| The steps posted are a bit lengthy but will give the best Accuracy plus take the Axis Coordinate Guess work out of the task.
