Default machining outside of defined borders / not finishing properly

can someone have a look at this and tell me how to solve my issue? either the roughing tool is taking too much material or the finishing tool isnt taking enough...

not really sure what is going on......

without spending too much time, cause I have none,ha

Your definition of your tools, your flute length needs to be longer. You can see this in simulation under analysis,,,you are constantly gettin collisions

But,Z-Level rough, under parameters,,,you ain't leaving no stock for the Planar tool path

Those 2 things struck out to me,,,have a date,,,maybe someone else can scrutinize further

    Hello Jay,

If you haven't watched my boot camp webinar on 3D Milling I recommend you take a look. Lot's of great information on 3D milling with BobCAD.

Can you tell me what version of BobCAD and are you running standard or pro?

After look at your file there is a very simple fix to solve the excess material being left in some corners and the gouge that you are getting in the other. These topics are reviewed in the Boot camp, but in short it's the geometry you've selected.

As you can see in this section view of your part you're cutting into one side and too far away from the other side.

If we take a look at the geometry you selected to finish the floor of your cavity you'll noticed you only selected the floor surface. This is where you problem is. When driving toolpath the software only looks at those surfaces you've selected. You've left out the wall of your part in your selection, so it didn't take them into consideration when gouge checking....

The purple geometry is the surfaces you selected to finish the floor.

Now I am guessing that you didn't want the finish of the floor to run up the walls which is why you choose the geometry like this... So what to do what to do...

Well always pay attention to what surfaces you've selected and which ones you haven't. Generally I am going to recommend to select the whole model , and restrict the toolpath with a boundary.

I understand what's going on. After working with the file for a little bit I think you best bet to keep things simple and get you running is to use the planar toolpath and restrict it to a boundary.

Here is a sample of what it will look like. Now I understand it would be better for it not to run up the walls... But with the level of software you have and to get you running without gouging the part I think this is the best approach.

your most recent file,I opened in 26 and 28

Anyhow,,alI did was reselect geometry for the planar toolpath and recompute and all is good with both those versions ???????????????
