    Default Bobcad Not Supported

I purchased BC24. When purchased I was told it was mine for life. I'm now told it's no longer supported and when my computer fails I no longer have an operating cad/cam system.
Is this the case for the rest of you out there? Am I confused here? I'm feeling a bit ripped off by BC. Are you guys getting the same deal with V29 and you just don't now it. I looked at my
receipt and there is no sign of them limiting the amount of time my license was good for. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I hope I'm just confused. BC won't talk to me about it without payed support.
    Not feeling the love-BBB? lawyer?

And it never occurred to you to raise these issues whilst your product was in support?
If you started a new thread with details of what you have to edit there are some very public spirited individuals who often guide fellow users, you might well end up with the required information to edit your Post Processor to correct each and every g code produced by BC without your further intervention

I did raise the question while I had support..in fact the first issue of v24 was so fraught with issues they extended my support but never resolved the pp issue. In short had their sales rep not told me I had no support we wouldn't be here. I was very specific with him. I ask him if my system crashes will i be issued another key-the answer was no. I asked him after reading through the posts here. I agree there is an avenue to probably fix my pp. I only have so many hours in the day to learn and fix stuff. . If BC would have fulfilled their end of the deal, once again we wouldn't be here.

A word about the "spirited" individuals here.
I have been helped out to no end by people like Burrman. If it wasn't for this forum I'd be years behind and $ behind. So my apologies for any misinformation I was given then passed on to this forum.

Once again I feel I have fallen victim to BC's aggressive sales techniques and it's embarrassing.

    Thank you- very much

I run mach 3 no atc.

Here are 3 issues to start with. There are several more but these would be great not to have to deal with anymore..

When engraving I have to insert "G00 Z.1" at the end to raise the z drive.

On any Mill 3 Axis rough or finish I need to remove "O10 (SUBPROGRAM OF O100)" & "M99 (SUBPROGRAM RETURN)"

When pocketing I i get this-

    (BEGIN PREDATOR NC HEADER)

    VPL,

The subprogram output is controlled by a toggle in the software, not the post processor. This may also be what is causing the other issues you specified. Please follow the steps below to disable subprograms in the software.

    1. Expand CAM Default
    2. Right-Click Milling Job
    3. Mouse over Current Settings
    4. Select CAM Part
    5. On the Left Hand Side, select Posting
    6. Uncheck Output Subprograms

The same steps will apply to change the default.

I think the support issue he and others are talking about is if you have to transfer the software due to a hard drive failure or other PC issue and since we have no key and have to call BC to activate the software etc etc. Our key to activate SHOULD BE PERMANENT PERIOD.

So "no issue there" is the answer!!!! That's a tough one to grasp...

Unfortunately all expensive software needs protection from illegal use and the only way to effectively maintain control of this is with a publisher controlled activation system.

No, it's not the only way. I have several multi-thousand dollar programs where I have a license key that I can use on any computer, for as long as I want.

When Adobe retired their online registration system for Creative Suite 2 (several years after retiring the product) they made a registration-free downloadable version available, they went Cloud/Subscription for later versions though ;-)

I recently learned the flip side to the dongle. I recently misplaced my Mastercam key. The first replacement key was $250. The next one will be the full replacement price of the software - about $20k. It was a stroke of luck I found the lost key after 3-4 weeks and returned it.

I still do prefer the dongle though. Now it's tethered to a bulky item. It's less mobile but a lot harder to lose!

I've only had one crashed drive that I lost a BobCAD software key on. They worked with me and had me back up and going in no time, no complaints.
