Question regarding cutting conditions / machine setup / system feeds

This isn't a showstopper, just an annoying thing that I've been trying to resolve.

I have an older Isel 3-axis router. It's not fancy. It drives a PC router for the spindle, and I leave it set typically at 10k rpm. My machine wants to cut at 140ipm or less.

Now the question is, where/how can I set that up in my config file, so that the system feeds and speeds uses the 10k rpm and the .008 feed per tooth that I usually use to calculate feed speed. Every operation I program, the system feeds wants to run @ 2505.7 rpm.

Is there a trick to using SFM that I should just accept? If I run 500SFM, and a tooth feed of .007", than the system feeds wants to run at 2505 rpm, and 106 in/min, which is fine, but it's not right.

    Any insight / education appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

you could increase you sfm and chip load to get the numbers you want. but my guess is you are cutting wood foam or plastic.....

so what I would do is either set the speeds and feeds for my cutter and save it in the library using manual speeds and feeds. or I would save and load features that I would default tool size doc woc etc.... this way they always come up with what I know works.

On wood your sfm could be like 2000 or 3000 easy...

    Thanks, Al.

That's exactly the workflow step I was looking for.
And it was completely obvious, as soon as you told me!
