can't seem to draw in 3d

I have been trying to draw in the zy plane. I have set the ucs (y/z) with the check mark and set active. When I draw a arc coordinate x center 0.000, y center 0.000,z center -9.625. radius 9.625, start angle 0.000, end angle 360.000. It draws a circle centered y0,z0. Also movements of the mouse moves ,at the bottom of the screen, x and y only. z does not move.

This is bobcadcam v24 demo, on windows 7 64 bit. also tried virtual xp mode with same results.

    Thanks
    Scottyb

The entity summary is actually going to be reading the world ucs. With this setup, you have drawn the arc at a negative "X" value (Which is a negative Z value from the Side UCS.

You can see this by using "Measure" option, which will produce different localized results depending on the active UCS. It will show the negative Z value if you have the side UCS selected, or it will show a negative X value if you are in the others.

You did! Just use measure if you want to verify this.. You also have to "measure" with the y/z plane active. Otherwise, measure will work off of the current, active UCS.

If you would like to see it, I need a bit more info about what you are trying to acheive, and I can show you.

Smile Can't seem to draw in 3d

I used my favorite cad prg turbocad, and it draws the same way?
I finally drew the circle in the y/z plane by useing the x y coordinates?
Gibbscam uses cs wich allow you to draw in the y/z or x/z planes directly.
I have included a small view of the 3d print.
    Thanks

    Hi scottyb,
I made a video awhile back talking about drawing with UCS's.

See if that helps figure things out.

This is for "Drawing". If you want to enter coordinate values, you dont have to switch ucs's though, just enter those values in. If you switch a UCS, the x/y values become the new ucs... So, "Z" in that side ucs is "X" in the top ucs.

"The drawing tools are working in a 2d "paperspace" so to speak.. You can only move the 2d drawing tools in 3 planes at a time, if you have "pick points" to use. Otherwise, they will always snap to the 2d plane, or "active UCS".

If you need to see anything specific, I can make something for you to see.

See if the video helps first though.

Yes that helps quite a bit., I think I have seen the video before, I'll have to watch it some more to soak in.
    Thanks a bunch.
