Lettering and Ellipse Cutting for a Truss Rod Cover

I am doing a job for a friend where I am making truss rod covers with his name and then cutting them out using an ellipse.

All pretty easy I hear you say, and yes, very easy.

Problem is getting the very fine router bits.

    Here are some pics:

    Wood Lifted.....

Even though I used strong double-sided tape, the wood cupped and lifted on each side.

Will need to work out a reliable approach to mounting the wood as my clamps will get hit by the mill.

I will make 'low' height clamps like I did for the archtop 2.

I could probably do them one-at-a-time to remove chances of this happening.

Check into Mighty Mite Clamps. There are others also, look for something tthat uses Cam action to tighten. These clamps work by pushing on the side of material against a stop or an opposing clamp.
