    USB to RS232 converter cables

Has any one had any luck using converter cables for DNC with their cnc machines? I am using Bobcad V24 with predator cnc editor 2005 for bobcad. My computer does not have any serial ports just usb. I have changed all the port settings to match my cnc settings and can get the predator editor to upload the code but my cnc machine is not receiving it. Thanks

I have had not so good luck on those converters, Suggest what I did and
find an older computer, buy a seat version of 21 and run DNC by itself, That
way you will not be tied up to your CAD computer while drip feeding to
    your machine

I have one laptop this model http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-To...item19ce420906

They hold up well in the shop, I have gone though many laptops usually power supply
issues, I have been using one of these for a few years, They work great for DNC

    USB to Serial setup

    .

Yes again, been using a USB to Serial adapter for several years now with Zero problems on Fanuc controls.

Works fine for uploading/downloading and "drip feeding" from both a desktop and a laptop using Predator Level 2 with DNC as supplied by BobCAD.

I can`t remember the name of it offhand but I think it was a German manufacturer, bought it at a local computer shop for £10 GBP about $16.00 USD and it`s paid for itself many times over through the time hassle it has saved me over the years.

Couple of pics of my settings for you.

I use a Keyspan converter that you can buy online at cnc specialty store. It is a little pricey. It comes with the DB25 cable.
