    more surfacing problems.....

ok, is it possible that my designs are just too radical or intricate for bobcad?
has anyone ever designed something that just will not surface for no apparent reason?
I have one design that is mostly arcs and when i go to surface it a rectangular surface appears that is outside of the chains I have selected??

Has anyone tried esprit cad? If so, is there an eval version and where can I get it? I think I need a little more power than bobcad.

    What did you draw??

I had TONS of problems with intricate drawings but I figured it out after awhile, here is one I photorendered afterwards in Alibre...

I like Bobcad just fine now that I figured it out~

I had to break things into smaller areas occassionally but now I have a pretty good idea what will and won't work just takes practice if you want to stick with bobcad, it will do it but not neccesarily as quick as other programs...

Any chance you could post a pic of what you were drawing??

I had a part I designed using BobCad, it had no flat surfaces at all, and I had to create an inside and outside surfaces so that i could cut two halves of a mold. This was just a little while after I had gotten V20 and I was having lots of trouble with it. I sent a file to BobCad and Chris (I think) helped me out getting it to surface. Turns out I had stray geometry getting in the way when I tried to create surfaces. I really had to discipline myself to seperating geomtry into layers and blanking out layers that I wasn't using. That helped a lot in keeping things cleaned up. I haven't done many complex surfaces since, but I am getting much better at creating the surfaces. I had to create a small dimple just the otehr day and it took me a little bit to remember how to do that but after I figured out when to right click and when to left click it was a breeze. Seems thats the hardest part about creating surfaces for me anyways.
