    Modeling help with version 23

I’m still a novice modeling with Bobcad 23 and looking for a little help. I'm machining up a set of triple trees for a friend who lives a good distance away. I’m trying to draw up a set similar to the picture except there is some pockets in it and the risers are machined in. I want to draw it up and send him a pic of the model to get approval to machine it up. Can anybody give me some pointers in drawing it, I’m not worried about dimensions right now just a how to. Also if he doesn't have bobcad is there a way to show him a pic of the model Thanks for any help

I didnt do all the parts, but this should get you going:

You can send your buddy a picture of the model. Position the viewport with the model as you want him to see, then hold the print screen button on the keyboard down for a second or so.. This will place an image in the images folder of the BobCad installation named as the file is named..

    C:\Program Files (x86)\BobCAD-CAM\BobCAD-CAM V23\images

    You can email him that.

Now I'm playing with drawing it and some things are coming uo differently.

1.Such as when I went to do the countinuous sketch vertical line I didnt have any points show like on your dementration.

    2. When I draw extrude curve it only show the material on the sides and not the top and bottom(with caps and along Z are checked)

    thanks

Using Line Continuous, you get snap points by first shift clciking the entity.

If you arent getting caps on your extrude, then the curves are either 1. Not planar or 2. there is an open gap.. You can find and open gap by looking at the extrude and examining any apparent "seams" in the surface.. If it is becase your curves are somehow non-planar, you can project them onto a plane surface to flatten them out.

If you will be using extracted edges of the model, you could use rotated UCS's and an indexer. If it will be using surfaces and 3d toolpaths, you can rotate the model and enter indexed values at the feature...

I'm supposing you have a 4th axis here.

no, I don't mean for machining.I've got the model drawn from the top view ( like in the example you made ) now how do you add feature to the bottom or the sides of that model? Thanks

    Hi Fubar,
OIC, for more modeling. Well, I may not be sure of what you are asking. Any part you make can be rotated and/or translated to the area of the model you want to perform the actions.. The other option would be to start creating custom USC's in place. The coord system would then come from the Active UCS. So placing an arc at 0,0,0 would have it created at the new UCS's 0 point, wherever that was placed...

If that sounds like what you are asking, I'll think somethiing up and make a video that can show that.

Yes that's what I mean.If I wanted to add the details in the picture what would be the easiest way? Thanks
