    plunge rough OUTER profile??

can anyone tell me how to plunge rough the OUTER profile of something?

i am using 2D milling and i can get the plunge cycle to work but only on the

inside of the sprocket profile. my goal is to remove the material from

between the sprocket teeth by plunge roughing and to do a final finishing

pass with an endmill rather than roughing the entire sprocket with an endmill

What I would do in V21 was offset my profile by the cutter radius (plus a little to leave for cleanup) and break the contour up into even line segments. I would post the toolpath then manually insert a G81 drill cycle. Crude, but works.

The same might be done in V23, not sure.

    if this is V 23
then plunge rgh works inside a pocket
just draw a circle around the outside of sprocket
increase or decrease size of circle to control how the tool path cuts
do a outside in under patterns
this should be done with a endmill
