    "Domed" part drawing help

    Gentlemens:

I am trying to draw a shape in v23 that seems like it should be fairly simple, but I can't seem to find the right wall to bang my head against.

The shape is an eliptical solid, .500" in the major axis and .250" in the minor and .030" tall. What I would like is to put a domed top on it, the highest point of the dome being .125" above the top surface.

I may or may not have attached a screen shot of the solid. I tried but one never knows...

The actual shape of the dome is not real critical, just a convex surface that tapers down smoothly from the center point to the edges of the elipse.

Any advice you folks could offer would be much appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    Glenn

Start your ellipses command and enter the numbers, then set the end angle to "180". Join the ends using line-join.

Run the revolve command and select with caps and 180 degrees, z direction.. Put a number 1 in the x dir field.. Shift clcik the entity and hit spacebar.

Now you can extrude surface the bottom of this object .03 and boolean union the pieces together..

    Mr. BurrMan:

Thank you very much for your time and knowledge. It is much appreciated.

I did finally manage to do what I needed, but your method is a whole lot tidier than the route I took. I redrew the part in half the time.

    Much obliged,

    Glenn
