I have a mental project that I am curios about a few of the points to. The project involves an aluminum billet, cast A356, annealed, and room temperature, approximately .4" in diameter and .3" long. The die is a simple cylinder with a flat bottom. The punch is a tool steel bar with a slightly conical profile and rounded at the end. The clearance between the punch and die is .02" on a side Enough force is applied to the punch to extrude the billet around the punch. What would be a good way of estimating the required force? Perhaps someone can tell me what force it might need? thanks  |
