Aluminium fan frame

Some years ago, I built a manual bender, based on the design of a pipe bender, which allowed me to bend "hockey stick" aluminium extrusion into a 12" radius semicircle. This was used to make frames for my folding fans, the flat section becoming the outer wall of the frame, and the curved part becoming the front, and holding the glass in place. (To be truthful, I only made one before other things got in the way, but it worked well enough.)
The extrusion was 1" x 3/8" overall, 1/16" thick, (no idea what grade the ally was, but I think it had silicon in the alloy) and I packed the shape out with a number of lengths of 1/16" ply of different widths, till the cross section of the bundle was a rectangle about 2" wide by 1" thick. This was held together by a couple of rectangular sliding metal straps.
Pulling the whole bundle around a circular former with a pivoted arm (big effort), the ply pieces could slide past each other, but restrained the curved top of the hockey stick from spreading more than was acceptable.
No precision here - it just had to look ok.

I'm now looking at producing more, possibly 100, and wondering if I might be better with a system based on an edge beading roller.
My question is, would it be possible to roll the edge of a flat 2" aluminium strip(and it could be much thinner in gauge) over to form the hockey stick, at the same time as the strip was being rolled round to form a semicircle ?
I would envisage motorising the whole set up through suitably geared motors, but I can't think of another product that might use this shape, so I've got no idea where I might copy ideas from.
I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts or suggestions.
Many thanks,
John
