    self-build electromagnetic sheetmetal bender...

I need some technical advice/info regarding a project I'm working on.

This is a self-built electromagnetic sheetmetal bender (ala MagnaBend or ElectraBrake).

What I need help with is figuring out how to wire in my bar type electromagnets using the controller/powersource...

Do I wire in series, parallel, series-parallel?

For your contributions, I will include my .pdf files of all the mechanical components, a source list for the electromagnets & controller/powersource, and a build sheet to make your own

Of course, I need help to complete this project first, so I can work out the bugs and supply correct, functional build data to the community.

    Hi 307startup

If you want to build something like a Magnabend or ElectraBrake your best bet is to go to the following link:-

Magnabend Electro-Magnetic Sheet Metal Bending Machine

This site is maintained by the gentleman that invented the Magnabend

He has generously put up all the information you would possibly need to build an electromagnetic brake similar to the Magnabend. There is lots to read and the information seems to be very complete.

    Regards,

    Jayson.

Edit: Sorry all I did not notice the original post date. Anyway hopefully the link will help someone
Quick... catch all the smoke so I can stuff it back in.

Didn't knew the magnabend, very nice machine.

[edit] if making the electromagnet looks difficult you could use a couple of electromagnetic door locks, there provide hundreds of pounds pressure
