How do you store your collets?

Ok I had to think hard for something that would fit in with Benchtop machines. I have CNC'd a couple of mills and I feel more at home on this part of the forum.

I made this video cutting out some ER25 collet storage cases on Morphy my gantry router. I know I am pushing the boundary but hopefully it will amuse some. Sorry about the video quality - as a movie maker I make a good floor sweep.

    Nice work Rod, cool music.
Kinda reminds me of the old Pink Panther cartoons, Henry Mancini for some reason.
I just keep my collets in a rusty tin can, JK, now I have to upgrade.

I thought it was too, but it's not. Different setup completely.

nice collet holder! I'm going to try making one out of some scrap aluminum I have once my mill arrives.

Soaking the holders in oil is used to prevent the collets from corroding?

    Hi Hoss,
The music is a sample file on Windows XP. With all the copywrite stuff I used that so I don't get into strife. Yeah it reminded me of Pink Panther too.

Yes it is an air cooled 800 watt out of China spindle. Done quite a few hours on it and it is holding up well - touch wood. Only complaint is small collet size (ER11) and it would be better if it had a through hole for ATC.

That's the idea of soaking them in oil - hope it works.

I have made a few consoles now and the one on this video is a ModIO. Peter Homann sent me all the bits and I did a tutorial on an Australian woodworking forum on how to put it together. The VB code in macropump is a bit hard for most to get started on it though. I also did a tutorial on making a Pokeys console and that seems to be easier for others to follow.
Pokeys Tutorial and it details two different consoles. One is built on just key emulation and the other includes pot for FRO, mpg, rotary switch, and button controls and jogging. It is a long post.
ModIO Tutorial and includes similar controls to above as well as four line LCD panel.

Here are some photos of the consoles including the one in the video. My first which is sitting on the tool cabinet was inspired by Hoss - who else. The computer is inside the box and it uses a Hagstrom key emulator. I find this one too busy and spend more time searching for buttons that I would on a screen. As you can see my later versions are simpler and don't have the computer in the box. This eases the upgrade path for a new computer - it get's busy if it is in the console box - see last photo.
