great deal on tormach tooling substitute?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ER25-3-4-STRAIGH...ht_3817wt_1165

i was going to order maybe 3-5 of these... what do you guys think. Could be a great substitute for the tormach tooling collet holders... i have a tts er20 collet holder and was wishing i had more collet holders, but at $92 a pop its just not pratical.

The difference is the collar is most likely not ground like the TTS is, but based on this picture
    http://www.ctcengineering.hk/CTC%20T...20Released.jpg

it looks like the differences would be negligable.

Just a heads up to anybody.

oops... there isn't a collar duh on the cheap chinese ones... so the z surface would change depending on how tight you tighten the drawbar. sketch, ill just stick to TTS.

    cheers

You can add the collar to any 3/4 shank tool, prolly need to cut the length down to match your other TTS tooling.

    Teyber.....

That seems like a pretty good deal and as Hoss said you can add the ring. I think the rings are like $19.00 or you can make your own. Shars has some of these holders and from my past experience with Shars they are probably in stock and you would have it pretty soon. I just received my first coaxial indicator from them and I got it in two days. I have always used my Zero set test indicator holder and a DTI but after seeing a coax in a video on Glacern's website in action I had to have one. This is a real nice unit and came in a quality box. I am anxious to use it...

I have been wanting some of the TTS style collet holders and was thinking about getting some of these and converting them. I already have bought a 3/4 inch shaft for my boring head from shars and cut it down to be a tts unit. I am trying to find a good deal on the collet holders so I can equip my machine the way I want....

I have had reall good success with these holders and love the Z repeatability of them. I am just starting to actually use that repeatability with the software and it sure is nice.... Good luck and peace

You can get the rings directly from Tormach for under $9. I was thinking of getting a bunch to use with the ER25 collet chucks from Maritool which sell for under $50.
