I have been reading the post in theFAQ's about how to pick the right mechanics(gearing). It's been awhile since I have had to do this, and there is probably some more invovled variables that I have'nt included. But here it goes.
Say I want a max rapid of 100 ipm and a max cutting speed of 50 ipm( I just picked these for the heck of it).
Ballscrews(I'm getting) are 5/8" dia. with .200 lead which equals a 5tpi.
Servo's that I'm picking up have a 2850rpm( guessing that is nominal, and assuming 250 quadrature encoders).
So in order to achieve optimum performance I want a 5:1 ratio correct?
Screw rotating at 570rpm while the motor rotates at 2850rpm.
Please let me know if there is something I have left out.
Thanks
