im building a new cnc mill that will be better than the hf mini mill that i converted to cnc that i have now i started with the micro mill longer y axis casting from little machine shop have thk linear ways on y and x axis but still trying to think whats best for z axis dovetail or boxway i dont need speed on the z so the money i would spend on linear ways for the z i will spend on other parts im using the hobby cnc chopper board withe 180 in oz step motors 33 volt power supply im a machinist by trade for 22 years i program and run fadal machining centers that they let me use at work on my time to build the new mill (the question i have is whats better for my z axis dovetail or boxway slide to carry weight of spindle and motor) Last edited by heilcnc; 04-08-2005 at 05:17 AM.
