The ArcEurotrade teardown guide is for an X3. Here is one that covers the SX3 differences:

    Hi CB. Thanks!

I used the stock CNCFusion ball screws, and turned extensions. It will work on either X3. If you buy the Deluxe kit, Michael will MAKE the ball screws in extended length FOR you.

I guess I had better finish that travel extension page.

Michael has agreed to extend the CR extension ball screws for no charge. It's ONLY for the Deluxe kit (Worth every penny) though, because he can't stock too many screw sizes.

I will try to finish it up tonight.

    Stock X = 15 7/8"
    Extended X= 18.0"

    Stock Y = 05 3/4"
    Extended Y = 08.0"

    Stock Z = 14 3/4"
    Extended Z = 18.0"

My enclosure has a 48 x 32" working envelope, and it just fits with base mounted off-center to right.

Mind you, these extensions are over-traveling the gibs a bit. They are for light-duty like cutting long slots or something. You cannot load 150 pounds onto the table end and have any useful extension.

    Crevice Reamer,

    You stated:

"Mind you, these extensions are over-traveling the gibs a bit. They are for light-duty like cutting long slots or something. You cannot load 150 pounds onto the table and have any useful extension."

Does this mean that these extensions weaken the table even for shorter work pieces?

    Thanks.

    Hi kanton.

No. Nothing I've done weakens the table itself, or limits the table load within normal travels. This just gives you the option of say drilling two holes 18 inches apart, or cutting a slot up to 18 inches long. Or being able to drill two holes in the y direction that are 8 inches apart.

I had to change that statement to clarify that you can't add 150 pounds to the table END and have any useful extension.

The X3 table is rated for 150 pound working weight. That includes any vise, rotary table etc. that you have bolted on there. As long as that stays within the gibs, it's good. Anytime the table or saddle (or both) expose the gib, then the weight that the table can hold goes down.

Mostly it's moot though, if you work on parts of less than 20 pounds. Or if you have an equal amount (total table load less than 150 pounds) of weight at each end of the table and centered on the Y axis.
