| WMD30 it is same as BF20. and weiss just a trading company which take those machine from 2 suppliers in yangzhou.one of also make copied KX3 too. i been visit them, and we resell a lot of bf20 cnc at china . i have 2 demo of those 2 factroy, the inside total same. trust me, it is original come from optima.a germany brand.which make in china yangzhou too,but some year later,a lot of them company people go outside to make same products. but anyway,BF20 really no bad, strong and rigid.much better than x2.hehe.

the wmd30lv is a massive machine, more than 2 times the weight of the bf20. what lathemaster is selling is the wmd25lv, which is like the long table bf20, but with an r8 spindle and more power. then of course there is the bf16, which is very small (x2 size). opti makes the bf46 as well, which is 1000lbs with a 40 taper spindle. weiss doesnt have an equivalent (yet). in any case, i was under the impression that weiss and opti came out of the same factory, not that it matters. |

| Indeed, the BF20s I have seen are much smaller than the '30' machine - I'm converting the WMD30LV / BF30 whatever you want to call it (thread here: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91748). After stripping out the table I'm really not sure what about the Y axis would be very difficult to convert. We'll soon see as I am hoping to have it done soon. The whole machine would make a great candidate for a bolt-on kit. Someone with the abilities of the OP would easily be able to come up with something nice I have no doubt. My particular variant of the machine has a confirmed 23.5" x 9.3" travel for those comparing to RF45. The head isn't quite as large as the RF45, but it does have the variable speed drive and a higher spindle speed - in my opinion all plusses. |
