Newbie- Want to build my first CNC machine :D

Hi all a complete newbie here...

Years ago I wanted to build myself a CNC machine for PCB as well as cutting some aluminium panel for project boxes. I built the alegro 3977 controller and my only 2 samples blows and that puts me off CNC building for a while along with other things.

So anyway I think Im gonna start the project again.

What I have right now is 3 stepper motors, spec is 1.8deg 2A 1.4NM. I also managed to buy more than enough L297 + L6203 from ebay very cheap. Designing/building the controller, breakout board and the PSU isnt a problem as I already have most of the parts from other projects.

I need something like 12" x 9" x 2" work area. Cutting/drilling/milling PCB as well as aluminium and plastic up to a thickness of 2-3mm.

Are the items below suitable for what I need >>>

20mm rail + linear bearing
12mm x 5mm ballscrew
120w spindle

I can live with slow machine as long as the work get done. Please advice

Yeah this place is probably the biggest forum on earth. But Ill read up some more, perhaps the answers to my questions are already out there. Lots of reading to do.
