    Benchtopmill for a knifemaker

Hi guys I'm new to the forum and would like to get some advice or opinion for a newbie like me on choosing a CNC benchtop mill for my shop. I have been lurking on the forum for quite sometime now and I'am very much interested on this two CNC's: ( IH CNC machines & TORMACH ) What I need is a very rigid and sturdy unit that could make knifeparts ( blades & handles ) made of titanium and 303 stainless steel. So I guess RPM speed is a must. It will be one of the major working horse in my shop and not just making prototypes or light duties :-(

Maybe you guys could help me out on what CNC to buy and if there is another CNC that you think that is more capable I would highly appreciate if you could also recommend :-)

Working in stainless and Ti (what grade?) you are not going to need RPM's as much as decent torque at lower speeds with the spindle. Both of those are relatively tough materials to work with, with low SFPM, and lower feed rates. You will also want good rigidity, so as to better support the use of carbide tools (a less rigid machine can cause chipping problems in carbides) for the best SFPM's.
What is your budget for this machine? What kind of space do you have? There may well be a larger machine available at auction or on ebay that might suit your needs IF you can fit it. If you have the room a bigger machine will make things easier cutting tough material.

The biggest factor for me is space. So a tabletop type is the only option. Budget is around 10K a little + or -
