| Hey everyone, Dont post much here so if I did this in the wrong place I appologize but read alot and thanks to everyone for teaching me what I have learned here. I have spent way too much on my HF44991 (could have bought a small built machining center)...lol. I built using one of those argord treadmill motors (hundreds available when I bought mine) for my spindle, MC-60 board with C-6 to control it. Now it seems everyone is using them for windmills or something cause I cant find one anywhere. My problem is now my spindle bearings burned up and that got my motor WAY hot before I noticed. I was wondering if anyone has been able to or is it possible to run a servo motor for the spindle and control it thru Mach3. I want to be able to spin a 1-1/2" or 2" face mill and maybe push a 5/8" spade or inserted drill thru aluminum. I dont mind spending a little money to do it as long as I can still afford my internet connection to get on here to thank you all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bruce |

| It is possible with a DC motor and one of the KB or Baldor SCR drives, they have analogue input so you would need one of the PWM to analogue convertors used for Mach and VFD's. If you get a motor with a tach on, the KB's etc use tach feedback for tight control. Al.

| Thanks Al, Is there a way to explain to a simple guy like me how to calculate the required torque or I guess motor specs to have the strength to do what I am wanting to do. I have over built the column to base support so that's not too much of an issue but it aint rock solid like the big boys I run at work. Thanks again Bruce |
