Hi, I am going to do a cnc conversion for a Taig Mill, when i approached keling.com regarding the appropriate DC servo motor for direct drive of the mill, I was told that dc servos need to be reduced, they are too fast for direct drive. I was puzzle so when to ask around and Al confirm that it is possible as long as the maximum torque is the same as a equivalent stepper motor that would drive the system. My research point me to a 350oz-in peak torque dc servo such as these: 1. KL23-130-60 (NEMA23) dual Shaft Skewed Rotor Design, 60V/20A Constant Torque: 50 oz-in Peak Torque: 350 oz-in No load Speed: 4700 R.P.M Terminal Voltage : 60 VDC Continuous Current: < 4 A Peak Current: > 20 A No load Current: 0.5A Weight : 1.4 kg 2.Nema 23 350 oz/in Peak Torque 60VDC Servo from http://www.homeshopcnc.com/servo2.html I understand that these motor need to be reduced 2:1 now. Does it make some of the servo systems sold on the market today far from complete setup less the required 2:1 reduction system. So far the only plug and play dc servo systems for small mills is from IMservice. Last edited by shadowless; 04-01-2009 at 02:07 PM. |
