im new to this and i bought a myford ml7 and it came with a box of goodies. most are pretty straght forward but some of the parts in the box have me scratching my head. i put up 2 pictures one is a set of really small gears they were all tied together so im guessing they are for the same application. the center of all of them dont seem to fit anywhere. especially anywhere in the transmission. the second picture looks like it belongs in the tail section. it has a taper on it but i cant figure out what it could be used for. |

| I would bet money that the gears are not part of the ML7, at least nothing on mine. The other part appears to be a drill pad. It is mounted in the tailstock and used as a backing to press the work (mounted on the cross slide milling table) into a headstock mounted drill chuck. |

| how do i find out what the little gears are for? or even what they mount to. the other piece makes sense what you say. the reason i ask is that the box of stuff i got is about 60% garbage a lot of jigs and precut bits of steel and aluminum lots of steel balls etc. i would like to weed out and throw away the garbage and incomplete stuff and start on building a complete set. should i look for other pieces that would go along with these little gears? |

| I would hold onto anything that looks like it may be useful in the future. The worst thing is to turf something today and need it tomorrow. Post a pic of the rest of the stuff and maybe someone or myself may be able to ID some of the items. While the gears appear to not be from a ML7, I would have no idea as to their original purpose. The standard ML7 change gear set will consist of 95,75,70,65,60,55,50,45,40,38,35,30,25,20 x 2. They will have a 5/8" keyed bore and be roughly 1/2" wide. The following photo shows two drill pads. One notched and one flat (the second and third from left). |
