KDN Tools

Does anyone have their x2 conversion? I'm going to be getting an x2 from homier in the next month or two and i'm looking at their cnc conversion kits. They look good and more importantly..I don't have to do a lot of work..which is important right now since i'm working two jobs.

I like your setup, but you had your machine work done by someone else didn't you?

Yes, a large amount of it was done by someone else, At the time I didnt have enough knowledge to do it myself, and he made me an offer I couldnt resist and to do it many times better than I could do it myself, then he forgot to include a couple not so significant parts or they got lost because maybe it got repacked, I paid him to make me new ones then he dissiapeared, I recently looked him up and he is in another state.

I think I remember the kdn tool kit a while back when I was doing my mill and decided against it because of the nema 23 mounts and it was a little more than I had offered.

What's wrong with the nema 23 mounts? Not enough power? They have a nema34 option for the z, but i'm not sure about the x and y. Should I look into that?

I am running nema 34 300oz/in motors and the fastest I can get a rapid without loosing steps is 60ipm. I have pushed 120ipm but I lost many steps, I can almost double my voltage and probably get 100ipm, I can only get 40ipm up out of the z axis.

And he specifies to use half of what I am using, I dont see how you can get 50ipm was it? Im sure the acceleration is really slow.

I have seen some motors that are like 250oz/in and those would probably be good, I like power

I've emailed the owner a couple questions and he is offering some 270 oz/in motors with E.A.S. stepper controllers. According to the owner he gets very fast rapids....I didn't inquire about lost steps though. He did mention that the stepper controllers can run at 3 amps and 55 volts. Of course this area of cnc is new to me...I know how to program and run them..but building them is a different story.

so...homier is coming to a town about 45 minutes away from me this weekend. I may go buy the mill this weekend. Not to sure yet. I'm looking at getting the japan servo motors that jfettig has on his mill. With this kdn cnc conversion, and running onecnc would this be a good setup?

The problem is that the japan servo steppers are nema34 mount and the kdn supports nema23. You would have to make an adapter, and get different flexable couplings, either that or bore them out.

I have some motors in the classifieds Im selling

He sells nema 34 mounts....I checked!

Not sure on the flexible couplings...this guy is going to get annoyed answering all my questions. Are you satisfied with the japan servo motors that your using?
