Hellbringer is on a distinguished road
cnc Stepper Buzzing

Hi i have all my axises on my mill moving but the steppers buzz from the time i turn it on till i turn it off. when i move the stepper when it stops the buzzing will stop for 2-3 sec and then it will start to buzz again

does anyone know why?

I cant anwser your question,

but it might help if you gave a list of what steppers, drives, power supply, type mill, screws, and software that you have. How you have them wired might also help.


If no replies, then try listing your info in the " Stepper" section of the forum about halfway down on the list in the main forum listing.

yes more info also about the setting you use on the dip switch of your driver would help

If you are using chopper based drivers (not gecko) this is a pretty normal situation from what I have read and experienced from my Xylotex.

The motors will somtimes even change the sound they are making just sitting there. Annoying isn't it? I'll bet not one of the chopper based drives manufacturers will tell you that the drives that they make will annoy you to the point of turning up the radio so you can't hear them.
Just my 2 cents.

If your drives are not chopper based or some other noisy technology, I apologize

If you don't like the noises steppers make when they're idle, don't ever get servos....
