| Peter, Dyna 2400 mechanicals are good the electronics are junk. Order a G540 Gecko http://www.geckodrive.com/product.aspx?c=3&i=14469 Order a 50 volt power supply http://tinyurl.com/2na2pt Three new steppers if needed. http://www.kelinginc.net/KL23H276-28-4B.pdf The retrofit is not that hard and well worth the time Jeff... |

| www.machsupport.com Mach3 http://www.linuxcnc.org/ EMC2 http://www.dakeng.com/ Turbo cnc This is an integrated software and hardware combo that doesn' need a breakout board. It also converts files into gcode (cam?) www.deskcnc.com Deskcnc There are others. The steppers may or may not work. If they are still good and you can wire them bipolar, try them. If you need more performance buy new ones.

| The company still exists http://www.dynamechtronics.com/supports.html but may not offer much help for old machines. Nothing lost in sending off an email ? There is also a yahoo group. Here's something from the Mach forum, not sure exactly what to make of it http://www.machsupport.com/forum/ind...pic,630.0.html I have no knowledge of how the software is loaded in the control or where to get it. The original software is limited to approx 900 lines but otherwise looks usable. Just tossing out a couple of things to research in case you want a cheaper way to get running. It is very possible the original electronics is nonfunctional or just plain junk as jalessi noted.

| Peter, You may also want to take a look at the Vectric products, they are simple to use and run on Windows. http://www.vectric.com/ You may find EMC2 difficult if you are not Unix or Linux savvy. Mach3 is Windows XP based and very good. Spend some time reading on the Mach3 forum, it will help a lot. http://www.machsupport.com/forum/ You may not need to replace your steppers like the other forum members suggested, try them first. The older round steppers do not develop the power that the new style square units produce. If they still perform well you have saved some money. I think that using the antiquated DOS based software will be frustrating and limiting, however it might still be a option. Enjoy the challenge, its addictive. Jeff... |
