Thanks for the update
Think I'll wait a week. Hope things are a little more normal at their end by then.
I contacted CNCFusion about a longer Y ballscrew for my X2. Here's the reply I got this morning:

Hi Dave, sorry for the slow response. we have been without power since hurricane
Ike hit us. Sending this from my day job computer via. web mail.
Yes, we can make some longer Y ballscrews. I would say, $40 + shipping for a
custom Y. I would need to order the screw stock special though, as we receive
them in pre-cut lengths. If you can get a rough number of the people who would
like a custom length Y screw, or have them email us, I will order enough pieces
plus a couple extra to cover the orders.
Also, if you dont mind, spread the word on the zone that we are without power,
so people dont think we are ignoring them.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Michael & Shelley Rodgers

I'm definitely going to order one. If you're interested you can email them directly.

Anyone who says "It only goes together one way" has no imagination.
After milling the column end of the base casting back 1 inch, it looks like I could use a screw 1.25" longer than the one provided in the kit.
I'm going to place my order at the end of the week. If anyone else wants one, you need to let Michael know so he can order the precut stock.
My extended screw should be in the mail in a day or two. It's machined to at the motor end same as usual cncfusion y screw. Cncfusion ordered in a few extra if anyone's interested. Michael pm'ed the info but probably won't mind me sharing.
Why a longer screw ? Read here:
