What is a good place too purchase good tooling while keeping the price down? I stumbled across a place called Maritool and thought it was great! Then I saw the shipping and started laughing, no way am I paying 16.00+ for an item that costs 4.60 cents. I'm looking for ball mills (Don't have much), roughers (Need these for roughing paths), long end-mills for tight too reach. So, what a good place online with a nice site like Maritools with good prices? -Jason

| Ebay is a good source for low cost end mills that can be used when testing new code and feed rates. I find they work very well even for light production work. They can be a little on the brittle side, so I would get anything less than 1/8". 800Watt is a good seller with lots and decent selections. I have a little supply of those. I have recently been getting some of a little better quality from Enco. Not bad on cost either. I think they were about $5 each. They do last longer than those off Ebay. I have been using one for a week cutting steel and aluminum and it's still going strong.

I just ordered some HSS end mills from Enco, along with some other stuff like 3/4" Loc Line to use as a vac line. Their prices were very good and I got free shipping by using the promo code on the back of the flier I had. I also ordered a couple of 1/4" 2 flute end mills that are "for aluminum", I don't know how they differ so I'm curious to try them out. Also while I was at it, I ordered some more carbide inserts fro my lathe. Enco has been good to deal with in the past. I've ordered allot of supplies from MSC and their service and shipping can't be beat (IMO), a bit high on pricing though. One other thing, I have some HSS end mills from Grizzly, I chose to order the cheapest 9 pc. set with 3/8" shanks they had and these seemed to dull really fast in aluminum, but they are 4 fluters.

With tooling you get what you pay for and only use what is needed for the particular job. There are some cheaper companies out there that are ok. I have bought off ebay many times for jobs that dont require tight numbers. Cheaper try www.ridiculouscarbide.com some of the better is MSC,mcmaster carr and you can go up from there just depending on what is needed.

I generally use Enco. They sell disposable Chinese stuff as well as some better lines and their product and shipping prices have usually been good. eBay is a crapshoot. Too often if you want three specific unique items you have to buy from three sellers and pay three times shipping.

How are the tools from Grizzly? I really like there selection, at the moment. I'm looking at most of the TiN Coated stuff, until things settle down and I can afford TiALN coated ones. Plus they have some other stuff I need, 1-2-3 blocks, machine squares etc... They offer good tooling at a good price until I can afford it? Comments? -jason
