Need help getting my Big Red fixed

Hi all,

I'm still pretty green on this hobby machine stuff. I mostly just watch and learn from you pro's! I bought a "Big Red" a few years ago and I am starting to get back into it. Right now I'm saving up for a rotary table and 7x12 lathe. My passion is pneumatics and paintball guns. I love tinkering and making my own stuff! One of these days I'll get it converted to CNC and I love the modifications that I've seen on these forums.

I'm looking for someone (or someone who knows someone) with a bigger machine in the Sacramento, CA area that is willing to help get my machine fixed up. My table is not parallel and it runs about .010 higher on one side. I would like to have the bed and ways cleaned up to improve its accuracy and smooth out performance. It's been a thorn in my side for some time now and I want to get it fixed before I start getting serious about a CNC conversion.

I'm hoping to find another hobbyist to help me out for free but I am willing to pay a little beer money for time invested. I don't have much income and can't pay a lot. I bought the machine for $500 and imagine that I could get a new machine for what it would cost to have it done at a retail shop. Making a new friend with something in common is always cool too

I would tear the machine down and provide transportation. All I need is someone with a big enough machine to mount my parts (base, x-slide, bed) and a little expertise in getting it done right.

Anyone out there willing to help a newbie out?
