Cold air gun

Does anyone use one? If so, how effective are they as opposed to liquid coolants? Thanks in advance.

I used to have a small cold air system set up on my Summit mill. It isn't bad at all.
Within the last few months, I switched over to a small 1gal. Kool-Mist system. The cost was very little and it runs off your existing air, but you get much more cooling to the tool with the air and the mist. You can adjust the mist flow depending on the work done.
And, with most all of the mist evaporating on the tool or the work, there is no need for any form of catch system.

IMHO, if you are going cold air, you might as well go mist. Its worth it.

You might find this a link usefull. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?p=404403

Now I tried this but I miss read the ad when I bought the air pump. I meant to buy a 75l/min pump but ended up with a 75l/hr. Not a whole lot of airflow but I tried it and it did keep the endmill cooler to touch but didnt clear away any of the chips. Now you can find air pumps in ebay under hydroponics. Fish tank airpumps just seem to pull up the smaller ones.

I would be interested in finding out what you come up with. I also didnt know that misters evaporated that much.

I was originally thinking about this:

It requires a full size compressor. The fish tank blower would certainly be easier and cheaper.
