| Possible replacement motor for an X3? I was browsing Harbor Freight web site and came across what appears to be an X3 made for Central machines. It has less travel on the X and Z axis, but everything else looks identical to the other X3's. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93885 OHH! the other difference I found was it comes with a 1 hp motor instead of the 3/4 hp motor that came on mine. If I ever need to replace mine, it might make a good replacement motor (more power, more torque). Can you just order a motor from HF? Later, Jack

| Try the 800 number They may be able to, but I have a feeling you won't be able to. They don't sell just the parts from when I spoke to them before I bought mine. If they didn't have what I was looking for, well, I just couldn't get it. I asked for something which I can't remember what it was at the moment, but there you go. |

| both motors are same - just rated differently by Grizz and HF. You can easily add your own motor if you feel the stock pwr is not enough. But, you will then hit limits of rigidity etc. |

| Bummer, I was hoping it would be an easy upgrade, a little more power and torque would've been nice. Oh well, Jack

| Upgrading the motor is pretty darn simple and can be done for less than 100 dollars with a treadmill motor and a 1hp dc motor control. |

| That's what I'm doing for my lathe as soon as I figure a good way of mounting it. I was thinking..... for a little bigger motor without having a mounting problem.
