I was making chips on some cast iron for a few hours. Sure motor got HOT. Next thing happen motor had a dead stop. My first thought was the cheap plastic gears broke and jam-up the motor. Well after taking apart the X2. Not one Tooth busted. Gears are ok. The problem is the cheap-ass plastic motor bell front cap broke. Then since motor had NO support on the front bearing the motor armiture took out some of the out side magnet. This stop the motor dead in its tracks. So looks like LMS sells a replacement #2573 Motor Bell Front. I was going to do a mod with a Treadmill motor. Just did not want to do it just yet. Need to get some more work out of the old X2 motor. |

| http://cgi.ebay.com/New-130-VDC-2-5-...QQcmdZViewItem http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.as...tname=electric I purchase TWO of these motors. One for the CNC X2 MOD Mill im bulding. "Explains the CAST IRON MILLING". And one Motor for a Mod Lathe; "Next project after the Mill". I have not purchase the Speed control. But the one I listed is what I will use with the Treadmill Motors. The motors are very heavy. Look powerfull. I cant remember but someone on this form did mod there X2 with the same Treadmill motor. May be they could post some photos? Im wondering if the original X2 Power Controler would have the Amps-DC Volts to power the treadmill motors? |

| I Epoxy the Front Motor Bell Cap last night. Put it all back together. Started cutting New Dovetails in the X2 Base. So far its holding. Have to watch the HEAT. Cut a little let it cool, then cut some more. Will Flood Coolant System work on CAST IRON? Im milling it Dry right now. |

| I was looking at that very motor on ebay today, wondering if it would be suitable. Sure looks like it would be. Maybe I'll give one a try. I wonder if our existing X2 speed controls would work for this motor? Guess it depens primarily on the current draw thru the controller. |

| That motor looks like a good deal but notice it does have a max rpm 1500 less than the stock motor, lots more HP though. Hoss

| Oldboy & HOSS I got the motor already, its 15lbs 5 more then stock, also it's 4" dia. 1" larger then stock, gave up on that idea & will be using it for 4th axis. Check my post on Mods to X2 mill spindle, show I used a 2.5HP 90VDC motor that come in at 10lbs same as stock. |
