Went to Hf today and ordered a 44991(X2) for store delivery. Total cost with 15% coupon was $444.68. I have already bought a set of R8 collets, a set of HSS end mills, center drill set and a cobalt drill set. I will place an order with LMS for the following: a set of parallels, dial indicator and base, clamp kit and a belt drive kit. I need some input on the vise I should order. It's between the following. 3" HD vise....http://www.littlemachineshop.com/pro...ProductID=1699 3" screwless vise.....http://www.littlemachineshop.com/pro...ProductID=1590 Any help on the vise or other items i might have overlooked will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

| Hey Mike, you'll probably get more use out of the HD vise than the screwless, that would be my first choice. you might pick up an edge finder too to setup your parts. also at least get a cheap caliper to measure your parts. Digital ones are nice but the batteries always seem to die at the wrong time. better yet, just get a whole inspection kit so you're ready to go. just some basics to get the ball rolling Hoss.

Probably wouldn't hurt to take out a second mortgage for tooling either ![]() Welcome to the club. Cut away!

| Oh man! You are now past the point of no return! Just remember that the cost of the machine is only the tip of the iceberg. I've spent at least 2-3 times what I paid for my X3 in tooling alone. Funny thing is that I didn't notice because I only bought tooling $250 at a time . |
