| Hi sgman, Good to see fellow canucks on board. CNC conversion for all benchtopmills are pretty much the same. Measure the stock bearing mounts. Replace standard bearings with angular contact bearings. Replace stock ACME screws with ballscrews. Replace stock ACME nuts iwth nuts that will fit your ballnuts. A good source for ballscrews and nuts is www.homemachineshop.com. Replace stock bearing mounts with newly machined bearing mounts for angular contact bearings. Mount steppters on your aixs, and there you have it. The hardest thing to do for me was to machine down the ballscrews, as they are Rockwell 56 case hardened. |
