Hi, Does anyone know of a Canadian distributor or a place in the States where the Sieg X3 mill can be ordered into Canada? I don't think Grizzly or HF ships to Canada, unless something has changed recently. Thanks Mal. |

| An alternative is this: http://busybeetools.ca/cgi-bin/pictu...0&NTITEM=CT129 Some people report it having similar performances as the X3. |

| If you were going to CNC it I think the Sieg KX3 CNC Mill is available from Novakon. They refer to it as; "Bench Top Series Bed Mill Price: $3330 USD" at: http://www.novakon.net/3.html . |

Also, it's not available for purchase yet, regardless of what BB tells you on the phone. Units are all still in the warehouse with problems meeting CSA electrical approval. FWIW, Micromark ships to Canada - I got my X2 there. They might also carry an X3 machine? |

| Hi, Thanks to all who responded. I had a look at the Busybee mill drill. The BB in Calgary has had one on the floor for some weeks, although I am uncertain if they are stocking it for sale or not. Its pretty nice and somewhat bigger then the X2. I'm not sure why they went with that spindle taper though. It like the XY travels on it, plenty for such a small mill drill. In either case I was hoping for a X3 or some other small square column mill drill using r8 tooling since that is what I have at home. I've got larger mills in the garage, but I've recently upgraded from my mini-lathe to a 12x36 and thought I might send the mini-lathe to the basement workshop and perhaps pick up a small mill drill to accompany it. Thanks Mal |

That is an X2 (item number 8145096). It was on sale last month for 799. I just saw that flyer on the last day of the sale. Someone else on this forum said that it goes on sale a couple of times a year. |

| Face it folks, Canadian retailers are serving hobby machinists pretty poorly *. It's not just Americans who have it better. Check out this UK unit and compare it to BusyBee's offering http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XJ20-Milling-M...QQcmdZViewItem * Syil Canada might be the exception Apologies for the long link. tinyurl next time.

Greetings Earthlings, I have been looking for an X3 sized mill here in Edmonton for a year or so and have phoned Busy Bee and talked to headquarters as well as the local store. There will be an MT3 version of the CT129 (CT129N) in Sept 08. I asked if they were going to bring in something like the Warco WM-18, as the CT129 and WM-16 are the same machine, but they are not. Maybe we can convince them to bring it in or bring in the Sieg super X3. Either way, I would rather have a machine with these dimensions, than an enormous 900lb 7045FG variant like that at House of Tools @ $2400. House of Tools carry the mini-mill/X2, but nothing else and as usual it is re-branded Force International. This means that you cannot talk to anyone about Sieg machines without them going to their manufacturers catalogs or their website and telling you what you already know. The link to cnc variants gives prices over $3500, which is crazy. These machines can be individually imported for a lot less. I contacted the Sieg factory yesterday to ask for a new catalogue & price list & shipping charges. I will pass that on once I have it. There are 2005 price quotes online and 2006-7 catalogs, & you can find the new catalogue at the Siegind site. From what I am guessing, an individual price for the super X3 without extra tooling would be about CDN $1800-2000 inclusive. An X3 would be CDN $250-300 cheaper. Dave |

| Hello fellow forum members, Here are a couple of messages from the Sieg factory. I will let you know what happens with House of Tools and the price of this special order. I have just talked to Peter at H of T Edmonton Mayfield branch and forwarded these messages to him. He says that he will look into a special order. Dave Dear Dr David Mannock, Thank you for trying so hard to get your Super X3. And we are sorry for the inconvenience. We already forwarded your requirement to Hous of Tools today. Upon getting their information, we will advise you without delay. Best regards, Yang Liren SIEG Industrial Group www.siegind.com ----- Original Message ----- From: David A. Mannock To: Ma Jian Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 4:21 AM Subject: Re: Greetings from Canada Ma, unfortunately Grizzly will not ship to Canada. The reason being that there is another company in Canada, Busy Bee Tools which is owned by a family member and the two companies have an agreement not to sell on one anothers territory. So Canadians cannot buy your mill from Grizzly. I understand that Bob at Lathemaster used to sell the standard X3, but the shipping costs often exceed those that you charge for shipping from China! There are several Canadians complaining about this online as they have no choice but to buy a smaller machine (your minimill X2, or a competitors mill similar to the Warco WM-16, which presently has a smaller MT2 spindle). This can be frustrating for all concerned. There is one company in Ontario, Canada which sells your Super X3 in a CNC form starting at twice the price of a manual mill, but for someone like myself who works with computers 75% of my time, I want to be able to use my hands and perhaps do the conversion myself at some time in the future. I think in the US, people in online forums were importing the Super X3 as a group. These purchases were an attempt to overcome the problems inherent in buying the mill and it's accessories from local suppliers who often did not have stock. Yesterday, I found that Traver's Tools, which has a Canadian outlet, does sell the Super X3 and has the accessories, but at an inflated price for the mill ($2200 Cdn) which makes it cheaper for me to go to the local House of Tools and buy the 7045FG mill (a mere $2400 Cdn and 750lbs!). However, I already have a lot of woodworking equipment in my garage workshop, mostly courtesy of House of Tools and Busy Bee Tools and would prefer to be able to have a smaller bench top mill. So as you can see, Canadians do not have the selection of machinery that is available in the USA and franchise agreements prevent us from purchasing from the USA. This is despite the so called "Free Trade Agreement" which exists between Canada, the USA and Mexico! It would be nice if it was possible to have Grizzly ship a Super X3 to Busy Bee Tools at a competitive price. I have suggested to Grizzly that they send one of these Super X3 milling machines to Busy Bee Tools and then I could maybe buy it from them. Alternatively, can my local House of Tools special order this mill from you at a reasonable price? David At 05:42 PM 22/06/2008, you wrote: Dear Dr. david Mannock Thanks for leaving message. I have seen one comment online that House of Tools stocks these milling machines, but I have never seen one in either of their Edmonton stores. Can you confirm that they are a Canadian distributor?
