| i am actually using the metal gear set from the hobbyist machine store. They are noisy, but they can take a beating without slipping. After i make the rest of my cnc parts I will be making a belt drive to replace them. If I had to do it again I would use the gears simply because I now have knowledge of them and it will help to build the machine i want. |

| I use the Belt and can't see a reason to use the gears. The added noise would be to much for me. As far as the belt slipping, that has never occurred on my mill. I have had the motor stall but that was the controller and not the belt. If the belt kit is installed properly you will not have problems. |
