    Hoss CNC Conversion material cost?

I searched around but didn't see the answer anywhere. Has anyone done the Hoss conversion and did you keep track of what the material costs were? I started pricing it on onlinemetals but their costs on small pieces seems high.

I almost always use www.industrialmetalsupply.com now. The shortest lengths you can buy is 12" but they are usually right smart cheaper. I am doing a Hoss' inspired conversion on mine presently. I dont have all the costs infront of me now but I will see if I can find them. I bought a few short pieces of stock from Speedy Metals that I probibly wouldnt use again, but aluminum of various sizes I can probibly use.

I priced everything out based on his lists that he had posted and it was not much cheaper than just buying everything outright and being done. I think it was another $100 or so to buy everything ready made. But, to be fair, I priced the metal out to the foot. So...if I needed a 4" chunk of aluminum, I priced a foot out. I would have had a bunch of metal left over. I probably had enough aluminum priced to build around 3 kits.

edit: Hoss also has some design elements that I liked better than the premade kits too. (z axis mounting for one). But based on time, I decided to go with the kits.

You could save a little by using just 1/2 in. plate for most of the brackets and
make a few adjustments to bolt lengths etc.
I always order extra stock for projects anyway, always find a use for it later.
Maybe I should offer basic stock kits that include the precut material needed to do a conversion.

Looks like if I were, I would have to charge about $75 plus shipping
to sell the stock kit with the aluminum and steel pieces necessary.
    Don't know.

    Stock Kits

$75 for all the material would be a deal in time savings and convenience

I am doing a bit of Hoss's stuff and it would have been a deal getting pre cut blanks (thanks Hoss)

But hey, half the fun is going to Industrial Metal Supply and picking out the rems (12" pieces). Like Hoss says, you always get more than you need so it starts accumulating and then I don't have to go every time I need a little piece.

    Hoss,

Now look what you went a did, I hear the Divorce rate among members has risen in the last 12 month!

    Thanks

Ok, I'll be offering Precut Stock kits and Fastener kits for the CNC conversion in the next couple days.
Have to check on a couple things and get the webpage up and running.
It'll be $75 plus S/H for the complete stock kit
and $15 plus S/H for all the fasteners.
    $85 plus S/H for both.
    Check the Store for availability.
    Thanks Hoss

    Sorry Bill
