    X2 Gears

    Hi All,

I have a HF X2 mini-mill and would like to know what family of gears are used in driving the spindle. Are these gears standard, 20 degree, spur type? Would metal spur gears from say SDP work as replacements? I know there are belt kits and plastic gears available but would like to know about the gear sizing of what is currently in the machine. Thanks Robert

There is a company that sells an all metal gear set for the X2 mills. https://thehobbyistmachinestore.com/catalog/ I have there steel intermediate gear in mine because it flew apart when I was facing a piece of 6061. The quality of the gear I received looked good havent had a minutes trouble out of it. Just my 2 pennys though.

Skip buying gears, Go with a belt drive conversion ... YOU WONT REGRET IT! In fact, I don't think anyone who has converted to a belt wished they had not.
